Interludes - when the music is interrupted, spaced out, or intervened with in some way. The common meaning of interlude is an intervention or interruption in time. In basic terms it also means a specific kind of passage, gap, or break in music, or performance art. (Study.com)
Back to the music. Interludes are interesting. They feel like the artist(s) took a break and just wanted to add something a bit more personal. Here's some of my favourites I enjoy basically on a daily.
Nines - Stalker Interlude (feat. Cherrie)
Nines talking about girls making his life hard and needing to take a break from these "groupie bitches". Not that I know anything about that life, I'm a lover boy🫶🏾. Cherrie's voice compliments the song so well.
Dutchboy - So Many Things Interlude
From New York, he's a lowkey one. The album When I'm Not Around is decent, but a few songs have stuck with me, particularly this one.
Drake - Wednesday Night Interlude (w/ PARTYNEXTDOOR)
This is basically PARTYNEXTDOOR's song, but it's on Drake's album so we keep it moving. This was a constant song as part of my shower performance set for years. If I could sing, I would wipe the floor with PARTYNEXTDOOR on this tune.
NorthSideBenji - Prada Me Interlude
Keeping it in Toronto, man like NorthSideBenji. I've been listening to him for a minute, the first being his version of Left Hollywood. His project is good as well, worth a listen, a few other hitters on there.
Unknown T - SS Interlude
This song is a serious gem. One of the few times where he sings and he does really well here going from singing, to rapping and back. Big up Kali Claire with the soothing background vocals.
88Glam - Memories Faded Interlude
Back to Toronto. 88Glam are a duo, with members Derek Wise and 88Camino, a trap-influenced. Formally part of the XO label, they've now gone independent. This is a personal favourite of mine, and it's a two-beat interlude.
D-Block Europe, Yxng Bane - ILY (Interlude)
This song should be a classic, at least on my iPhone. What a song man! Young Adz and Yxng Bane got this song right, and it doesn't have that strong autotune Young Adz usually uses.
Tory Lanez - Midnight's Interlude
I really like this 80s theme mixtape from Tory. I've not been playing a lot of his recent music, simply because I think his quality took a dip. That being said I really enjoyed this project and this song is always on repeat.
